Samantha
Our NICU journey began in late spring of 2010 when we received the life-changing news that we were expecting twins, and with that, a high-risk pregnancy. After close monitoring, Rachel was placed on bed rest at 19 weeks, and by 21 weeks, she was admitted to Abington Hospital’s maternity unit due to an incompetent cervix.
Both girls were born prematurely at just 24 weeks and 2 days. Jenna weighed 1 lb 3 oz, and Samantha weighed 1 lb 5 oz. From the moment they were born, their fight for life began in the NICU. Every day was filled with new challenges. Tragically, after 19 days, Jenna suffered a major setback called Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), and she gained her Angel wings.
Samantha’s journey, however, was far from over. With her sister Jenna watching over her, she showed incredible strength and resilience. After 94 long days in the NICU, Samantha was finally able to come home with us.
Now, Samantha is a vibrant and passionate young lady. She loves playing the guitar, piano, and singing. She has a deep appreciation for art and poetry, and her kindness and compassion shine brightly. Samantha’s fierce loyalty, her love for others, and her ability to give her whole heart to those she cares about make her a cherished friend.
We are beyond proud of the remarkable young woman she has become.
