Sloane

Our pregnancy started out smooth, nothing to worry about. We were pregnant with a healthy baby girl!

At 26 weeks, I felt weird so I took my blood pressure and it read high so I decided to call my OB. She said to go to Triage at Abington Hospital. Never having issues like this in my previous pregnancy, I thought nothing of it. Kyle (my husband) took me to the hospital and they admitted me for high blood pressure. I was quickly informed I would be in the hospital until I delivered. Sloane wasn’t due until January!

Being only 26 weeks pregnant, we were very worried. I was admitted in mid-October and they were hoping to keep me pregnant until Thanksgiving. Ten days later, we were told that we would be having our baby and the doctors explained to us that our baby would be in the NICU for a while. We were not “new” to the NICU (our son Connor was in the NICU for 7 days for an infection).

Sloane was born on October 26 and was quickly rushed to the NICU. We were lucky to have an uneventful stay while there. We are forever thankful for the team of doctors and nurses at Abington NICU, and Today is a Good Day, who quickly started to feel like family. They helped us through the most stressful days of our lives. Sloane means “warrior”. Our warrior is now a happy 2 and a half year old, constantly keeping us on our feet and filling our hearts with warmth.
