Briar

After trying for a baby for a year we finally found out we were expecting in February of 2017! Briar was due October 3rd but in late June, I started to feel what I thought felt like contractions. I started to have severe cramps around 26 weeks.

They checked everything and said it was most likely caused to dehydration and to stay extra hydrated during the hot summer days. A week later, I woke up to a gush of blood and we rushed to the hospital. I was monitored for 4 days until Briar’s heart rate dropped and I was rushed to the OR for an emergency c-section.

She was born July 11th, at 28 weeks 0 days, weighing 2lbs 9oz due to a placental abruption. She spent 10 weeks in the Abington Hospital NICU. There she had her ups and downs but the doctors and nurses were amazing, they became like family to us.

Briar graduated from the NICU on September 15th, 2017, coming home on caffeine to remind her to breathe and an apnea monitor. She had some small issues for the next year or so but you would never be able to tell she was born 3 months early.

Today, she is a thriving 7 year old, she loves crafts, gymnastics, all sports, play dates with her best friends and cousins and being the best big sister! We are so proud of how far she has come!
