Quinn

After 8 years of trying to have a baby and 2 miscarriages, I finally had a successful and relatively easy pregnancy until 28 weeks when my water broke in the morning on my way to work. I was immediately sent to (and then hospitalized) at Abington Hospital with the hope I could keep the baby in until 34 weeks. However, after 11 days of hospital bed rest in the MOM unit, the baby started showing signs of distress, so the doctors decided the baby needed to be born via caesarean delivery right away.

Our son Quinn was born at 30 weeks and weighed just 3 pounds, 12 ounces. Unfortunately he has sepsis, a Grade II brain bleed, a hole in his heart, was anemic and later developed jaundice. The day after he was born, a NICU doctors at Abington told us that he was very sick and that they had given him everything they could, but it was now up to him to fight to live. Quinn fought hard and after 52 days of great care in Abington’s NICU, he finally came home weighing 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

Once home, he started to grow quickly, loved to eat and mastered sleeping through the night. Thanks to early intervention and therapeutic support, this mighty miracle child has been able to overcome many physical and emotional challenges from his very difficult beginning, making him a smart and animal loving kid today.
